Here’s one of our electrician’s beginning a visual inspection prior to pulling out specialist test equipment and performing a checkup in Donnybrook this week.
After an early morning of lighting maintenance on Monday, a Security Services Provider advised that we’d given him a big shock when he looked up to see Josh’s face blocking out one of his cameras. We’re just glad that Josh has a focussed look on his face and wasn’t busted picking his nose!
The heavy rains delayed our owners shed construction by an extra week but as soon as they finished erecting we got started working with the wiring! Plenty of light inside and outside as well. We finished testing as the sun went down which gave us great satisfaction using the new LED batten lights to help us clean up and get on our way.
Geese it was warm and muggy this week! Didn’t slow our maintenance service down though.
Upgraded some failed carpark lights with built-in microwave motion sensors that hold brightness at 10% to save energy costs, until there’s movement and they automatically ramp up to 100% for 10 minutes.
This week we connected a generator to power a land sales office in Upper Caboolture. We provided customised alterations to the generator and switchboard to make it electrically compliant to the safety standards. Now they will temporarily have power to the site until the main powerlines arrive in a few months.
We love walking away from all our jobs with assurance that we’ve left it as safe or safer than before. Testing testing testing! Any mistake we make (or others that have been before us) will always be found if we follow the whole testing process every time!
Yesterday, during regular testing at a old switchboard, we found two existing PowerPoints in a house that had no earth connection - the terminal was only connected to insulation - a great example of serious and potentially dangerous fault that would ALWAYS be found if the original installer had tested properly afterwards.
🥂 to the most important part of any electricians visit - proper testing.
Well done Henry (and Josh, who’s taking the photos) for installing some ‘short wave infrared heaters’ and some underground cabling for a shed yesterday! You didn’t give up with the rain setting in and were able to test and commission and enjoy the heater briefly before retiring to prepare for more jobs today!!

I’ve spent literally hundreds of hours in residential roof spaces and can honestly say that I enjoy the peace and coziness of it!
I knew before climbing into this one today in #Rocksberg that it would be more challenging than most. Henry, our first year apprentice, asked if he could watch my technique to help him learn how to do it next time - I love his drive to learn and enjoyed being able to show him how to do it and see how keen he is to develop the same specialist techniques so that he can safely take over the role!
It is so satisfying sharing your experience and trade with someone who listens and wants to learn!

Induction cooktops are great !!
Electric equivalent of domestic gas cook tops
- fast and efficient heat induction in your daily cooking!
If you’d like help upgrading from standard ceramic to induction it’s a straightforward process ->
1- ensure the new induction cooker is the right size to fit the cutout (tip: take the old cooker model number with you to she shops and the retailer can help compare cutout size)
2- ensure correct electrical capacity of the circuit and the mains ( sometimes we may decide to run a larger capacity cable).
3- you’ll need a local switch added if there’s not already one there.
