Meet Josh Atkinson

Connected Electricians and Cablers (Est. April 2021) is owned and operated by an experienced & licensed electrician and data cabler, Josh Atkinson, who has over 15 years of proven experience in the industry, which began with the many hours before and after school and on holidays as a young boy and teenager. Josh crawled through roof spaces, running cables and connecting power points for his dad, Keith Atkinson (founding owner of Keith Atkinson Electrical Sunshine Coast).

When his family of six decided to move to Bellmere in early 2021, they fell in love with the area and people and now can’t imagine wanting to live elsewhere.

“We love the local Bellmere school our two older boys attend, and our two younger boys are excited for the day when they’re old enough to attend, too. That’s right, four future apprentices in training!”

2021 South-East Queensland Electrician of the year

Electrician of The Year

Josh was nominated for the ‘Electrician of the Year’ award by his employer in 2021. As a result, he was given the opportunity to compete against several other state finalists in a timed written theoretical examination and a high-pressure practical skills test held at the Schneider Electric Offices near Brisbane Airport. It was a highly skilled competition, and everyone involved was excited about it. Josh emerged as the Winner – South-East Queensland Electrician of the year, 2021- an incredible achievement.

I’ve been involved in the electrical industry throughout my life, in various roles. It started with ‘helping my Dad’ on the weekends. After finishing my schooling, I tried my hand in Electrical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (Deans List with a GPA of 7 in 3rd semester) I decided that it wasn’t for me and after working as an Administrator for a large team of Service Electricians decided that I would follow my Dad and Two Electrician Brothers into the trade.  First, I completed my apprenticeship in Electrotechnology which qualified me as a Licenced electrician Then I completed another apprenticeship in Telecommunications, which allowed me to work as an endorsed Telecommunications Technician. I’ve since had a wide variety of experience in both areas. My specialty is in jobs that use both of my trade qualifications and I always aim to produce work in a manner that either trade would be proud of.

I’m a proud Mum of 4 boys and a dedicated administrator for our new Electrical Contracting business, founded by my Husband and I. My life is a wonderful balancing act between managing my bustling household and supporting the growth of our business. As a Mum, I’ve gotten my organisation skills perfected and I try to bring these skills to our company’s administrative tasks. I have a deep commitment to my family and our business and am excited to be on this journey and will always strive to make everything run smoothly behind the scenes.
