Licensing and insurance, including $20M public liability
Both businesses carry $20 million public liability insurance, and both hold Queensland electrical contractor licences you can check on the public register: #90211 for Connected and #92217 for Connex.
Connex also holds an ARC refrigeration licence (#AU42842), which means they can install split-system air conditioning themselves. We don't hold a refrigeration licence. We do the electrical side of air conditioning, like dedicated circuits and switchboard capacity, and work alongside your air con installer.
Power and data cabling from one registered team
We're a registered data cabler (Open Cablers Registration #048361) as well as licensed electricians. One team can handle your switchboard, power points, NBN and data points, Wi-Fi access points, and cabling for smart home and security devices in the same visit. We don't commission CCTV systems, but we run the cabling for them.
Connex also advertises data cabling services. If you're booking data work with any electrician, ask for their cabling registration number, because cabling work in Australia must be done by a registered cabler.
Who actually does the work
Connected is family-owned by Josh and Sophie Atkinson. Josh is a Master Electrician and was named Master Electrician of the Year for South East Queensland in 2021 by Master Electricians Australia. When you call us, you get Josh or one of his team, never a call centre.
